Three and a half years since I blogged about anything on this site. I rarely do social media posts and no podcasts to date. Why?
Signal-to-noise ratio
There is so much noise out there I question whether the level of effort and passion to put a signal above the noise level is worth my time and energy. After all, I am just another technologist in an ocean of technologists. I have no social media “influencer stardom” aspirations. I do not want to be another echo chamber.
But after spending recent years doing alot of mentoring, my “students” have been encouraging me to share the tradecraft and unvarnished stories from my career and the lessons learned into a book. (If I did it would be called “The Accidental Career.”)
Unvarnished. With everyone leaning in on creating content with AI, the side effect is its output can produce a predictable noise pattern where unvarnished content becoming a signal that can rise above. So I figure let me dip my toes back into social media casting caution to the wind. So if my use of unvarnished words like fuck and shit in this and future posts offend you, my posts are not for you.
